The Season of the Lion…

lion

I have been sitting in my living room, just reading my social media a bit this morning. As I scroll through twitter and facebook. I see one thing.  DOOM

I’m gonna sing the doom song…

I have seen comments of Anger, Fear, Rage, Conspiracy, but I have seen very little truth. Most comments have been things like ‘Let’s all move to…’ or ‘I think its time for the rapture…’ or ‘Half of America are absolute morons.’ I could continue, but I think you see my point. I am not trying to say all the posts are that way, but if I did the math it would probably be over %90.

I view this election differently. I am not mad that President Obama was reelected. I didn’t vote for him, but I also know that God ordains the powers, and no one is in power that isn’t there by the will of God. I know that God has a plan for Barak Obama as president of America. I think that plan has more to do with the Church than it does the nation.

When President Obama was running for office in 2008, I heard people commenting that he would be the downfall of America and Christians swore they would pray for this nation harder than ever. But 4 years have passed, and our prayer meetings in our local churches are still desolate. Sure there are people who pray, but not as many as those who vowed to do so because of the result of the election.

Now it is 2012, and the same man was running for the same office, and the outcome was the same. President Obama was reelected and the Christians swore to pray harder than ever.  One of the standouts of all the facebook statuses I saw was from my friend Gary DePasquale, the director of the International House of Prayer: East Gate in New Jersey (for clarification and emphasis, I have added the actual verses from the NASB.

I see a lot of posts about praying for our leaders, yet I fear that the prayer rooms across America will remain empty. 1 Peter 4:17 “For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?”

Jesus will not return in answer to a political outcome…He only will come in answer to the night and day cry of love upon the earth. 2 Peter 3:12, “looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!” and Luke 18:7-8, “now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? “I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

We’ve heard that before…

The church has promised to pray, but pastors have heard that promise before. The church has swore to change America, but we have heard that all before. Now its time to hear something different. The result of this election, which was more than just the man at the top means that over all the government is going to make life harder for the Christians. We have seen our national morality slip over the last few decades, but the pieces are in place to see the church in America become truly persecuted.

Perhaps not in the same way as in other places, but persecuted none the less. Our liberties are not being taken, but rather given away by Christians who didn’t let their voice be heard. Its more than a simple vote, its a pattern of laziness on our part. In Lawrence our city participates in “The Zombie Walk” every October. People dress in zombie costumes and march down the main street here in town. This years was the biggest ever… an estimated 1500 people came to join in the celebration of death.

The same weekend was also the “Life Chain” another annual October event. This is an event where those who are pro-life come together, hold hands and pray that God would end abortion in America. This event in Lawrence had maybe 50 people…

We as a church have been lulled to sleep by a culture that makes Christianity comfortable. A culture that lets us come to the house of God, sip our latte and hear an inspiring speech. The culture occasionally gives us an opportunity to raise a bit of cane, but what comes of it? a few protests run be a few people? We as a body of believers have not stood up and made our voices loud and clear. We have become sluggish and happy to hang out in our clubhouses.

The Season of the Lion….

I am more excited to be alive and be a Christian today than ever. We are being prepared for the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever known and it is coming because the church can no longer live comfortable. We have become slack in our ways. We have let our nation fall out of our hands because we got comfortable and let our guard down. But now persecution is starting to knock on the doors of the American church and its going to require an answer…

In every place where the church is persecuted, it grows. Are we ready to grow? Are we ready to harvest? This is the season of the lion, and He will breathe upon those who have been turned to stone and restore to them life. This next revival will not come in with a roar, but with a simple whisper…

Aslan is on the move.

  1. Isa.5:26-30 Begins with a hiss (King James) or whistle (NKJV) It’s like the Lord is waking up a mighty end-time army by simply saying… Pst! Hey guys, it’s time to touch and release the resources of My GLORY. But who will hear, in the midst of the noisy activities we allow ourselves to be immersed in? However… God’s word is altogether true. What begins as a whisper in the ear, ends in a mighty, collective roar of lions to bring rescue and deliverance in the environment of dark clouds and sorrow.

    • Amen Roger, well said. Hey just want to remind you that it was great to see you this past weekend. I praise God for what He is doing in your heart. You are an awesome brother. Keep digging into His Glory and learning to abide there.

  2. Very good and thoughtful word. My tuppence worth: what pruning is for plants, peresecution is for the church. In both cases, dead/uselsss parts are removed.
